1. Click the Windows icon

 

2. Goto Control panel

 

3. From the "Network and Internet" click "View network status and tasks OR  Right click the network connection on your system tray (the small icons on the right hand corner of your computer)

 

 

4. Click on "Open network and sharing center". You should be in a window "View your basic network information and set up connections"

 

 

6. Click on "Set up a new connection or network"

 

7. Click on "Manually connect to a wireless network"

 

8. Click "Next"

 

9. Enter the Network name, enter the same name as the SSID. (you can get this from the network administrator)

 

10. For security type select 802.1x (this should allow connecting to ad-hoc networks based on another 802.1x wireless card)

 

11. Encryption type "WEP"

 

12. Enter the Security Key provided to you by the network administrator

 

13. Tick the "Start this connection automatically"

 

14. Click "Next"

 

To change or to view the wireless networks go back to the "View your basic network information and set up connections" window.

 

1. Click on the "Manage wireless networks" from the left hand side.

 

2. You should now see you new wireless network. To chnage settings

 

3. Select the new wireless network and right click on the network

 

4. Click "Properties"
