Create a new partition in Windows PDF Print E-mail

 

1. Log on as administrator or as a member of the Administrators group.

2. Click Start icon,

Windows Vista and 7, type Computer Management and press Enter

Windouws XP click Run, type compmgmt.msc, and then click OK

3. Click on Computer Management to open

4. In the console tree, click Disk Management. In the Disk Management window your disks and volumes

will appear in a graphical view.

 

To create a new partition in Vista carry out a Shrink Volume...

5. Right-click the volume you want to shrink.

6. Click Shrink Volume...

7. In the Shrink Volume: window will appear

8. You can change the amount of disc space to allocate by entering a value in the Enter the amount of space to shrik in MB:

the maximum amount is selected by default

9. Press Shrink

 

To create a new partition in XP

5. Right-click an unallocated region of the disk, then click on New Partition

6. In the new partition wizard, click next click either Primary Partition, extended Partition or Logical Partition and follow the instructions
