To configure dual delivery using your current hosting or mail server as the primary server, use the Google test domain alias. When  you first create your Google Apps account, Google provides a test domain that you can use as the domain alias to forward and receive mail. The domain alias name is similar to  your_domain.com.test-google-a.com, where your_domain.com is your public domain.

At this stage do not update the MX records to Google servers. Let the mail be received into your current mail server.

Make sure the domain is verified on Google Apps and mail addressed to the domain alias are properly received.

Send a test email to a user's email which should be similar to user@your_domain.com is user@your_domain.com.test-google-a.com.

Login to you current hosting or mail server and add a forwarder to the test domain alias. This should be as user@your_domain.com is user@your_domain.com.test-google-a.com.

Now mail will be received at both Google mail servers and your current mail server. Email can be sent from either account.
