Windows blue screen of death error messages

If you get Windows blue screen of death (BSOD) and the computer shutdown and restarts this is a Windows STOP message. This means that your Windows OS has literally has stopped!

These appear in all the NT-based operating systems: Win NT, Win 2000, Win XP and Vista. Most are hardware issues.  STOP messages are identified by an 8-digit hexadecimal number commonly seen on the BSOD for example as a STOP 0x0000000A
